Key Control or High Security Lock & Key Systems

Without a key control system you cannot be sure who has keys or how many keys they have to your property. Not having a patent controlled key system leads to unauthorized key duplication, which leads to unauthorized access to your property or employee theft.

Most key control systems utilize patented keys and or cylinders, these lock cylinders employ very precise locking systems that can only be operated by the unique keys to that system. All high security key control systems require specific permission to have keys originated or duplicated. Most systems can be masterkeyed, some will coordinate with existing master key systems.

How to Lock Your Car

If you’re like me, you probably routinely use the little key ring attachment to lock up after you park your car, then walk away feeling safe and secure, right ? It seems as though the latest criminal trick is to lurk nearby and electronically intercept your security code as it whizzes through the air. Current news reports indicate that the majority of thieves are using this technique to steal items from the car without attracting attention, maximizing their take without incurring a grand theft auto charge.  When locking and leaving it is advisable to hold keys in your hand (so you don’t lock yourself out!), use the manual lock feature usually located on your door panel, exit and shut the door, then put your keys away.

Transponder – Chip Key Defined

I have a chip key, what does that mean? Frequently the owner of a car will call us because they need to have a car key made finding that his/her key has a transponder chip. A transponder key needs to be programmed in order to work with its vehicle. The transponder chip is a radio transmitter hidden in the key that ‘talks’ to the car’s computer through a wireless system confirming that the original key is in the ignition. This key is called a VATS keys (vehicle anti theft system) and is a little different from the known transponder keys that are more common today. What other keys have chips? Most of the major lock manufacturers have models that are equipped with chipped keys: Schlage, KwikSet, ASSA, Mul-T-Lock, and others are using new technologies like chip keys or bio lock, and the demand is out there. A home owner can change the code on the key without the need of changing their locks, saving time and money in cases like lost or stolen keys. Imagine never worrying about losing your keys and never having the need to re-key your lock.
